Multimedia
True digital growth requires moving beyond static text to capture attention wherever the audience is. Throughout my career, I have treated multimedia not just as a creative add-on, but as a critical lever for audience retention, first-party data capture, and algorithm insulation. By building agile, cross-platform content ecosystems, I have systematically expanded legacy publishing brands into audio, video, and app-first environments.
Spearheading the App
The launch of the Stylist app represented a fundamental evolution of our digital business model—moving from a reliance on volatile, third-party web clicks to cultivating deep, logged-in user habits. As Digital Content Director, I directed the content strategy and platform optimization for this transition. By introducing non-traditional lifestyle features like gamification, interactive puzzles, and premium vertical rebrands, we gave users a powerful reason to open the app daily. This app-first ecosystem successfully bypassed algorithm gatekeepers, providing us with a direct line to our most valuable audience via push notifications while building a highly secure framework for first-party data capture and subscription revenue.
Integrating Audio to app
The shift toward screen-free utility requires rigorous testing. Through a strategic collaboration with the Google News Initiative (GNI), I led a series of data-driven newsroom experiments to analyze how audio integration impacts on-site dwell time. Following the success of these trials, we fully scaled the product by embedding high-quality, narrated articles directly into the ecosystem. This audio solution transformed long-form journalism into a flexible, dual-format asset, allowing us to capture the growing "eyes-free, hands-free" demographic and significantly deepening user engagement metrics.
The Podcast: Turning Identity into Audio
Multimedia innovation is most powerful when it fills a distinct cultural gap. Identifying a major editorial opportunity for a premium space addressing the emotional realities of modern motherhood, I built and hosted the Baby On The Brain multimedia franchise. This initiative bridged the gap between text and audio, expanding our digital footprint into global aggregation spaces like Apple Podcasts and Acast. By translating core brand values into a highly relatable, expert-verified audio format, the podcast built a self-sustaining community and opened up high-yield, contextual sponsorship opportunities for premium commercial partners.
Experimentation with YouTube
Expanding our digital footprint also means testing visual boundaries. I have consistently driven newsroom experimentation on YouTube, exploring how high-production vertical video, short-form lifestyle content, and visual storytelling can attract entirely new audience demographics. By treating YouTube as a strategic laboratory, we learned how to optimize visual assets to feed our broader multi-channel ecosystem, ensuring our brand remains highly visible, agile, and ahead of the curve on every major global network.
